Annex I – Oil Waste
- Includes oil sludge, oily water mixtures, bilge water.
- Must be treated and discharged according to strict IMO protocols or sent to a certified waste management facility.
Annex V – Garbage Waste
- General garbage including plastics, food waste, domestic waste, packaging, operational waste, incinerator ashes, e-waste, etc.
- Banned from disposal at sea, with certain exceptions under strict conditions.
